India: Koo Is Shutting Down

Koo is an Indian microblogging and social networking service, launched in 2020 with its headquarters in Bangalore. It allows users to share their thoughts and opinions in the form of ‘koos’. It boasts over 60 million users as of 2022 and has been used as an alternative to Twitter, which is now called X.

According to reports, Koo has announced its decision to shut down due to high maintenance costs and market challenges it has faced in recent years.

The report mentions that the decision to shut down comes after Koo failed to secure the funding necessary to compete with other established platforms, as well as several failed attempts for a merger or partnership.
