Toshiba Recalls 15.5 Million Laptop Adapters

Toshiba, now rebranded as Dynabook Americas, is a personal computer manufacturer that was founded in 1954. The company is a subsidiary of Japanese electronics corporation, Sharp, and specializes in computer hardware, electronics, and laptops, etc. It is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and as of 2019, boasts of over $1 billion USD in annual sales.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dynabook has recalled about 15.5 million Toshiba Laptop AC Adapters due to burn and fire hazards. The affected adapters were sold with Toshiba laptops, and some separately, between April 2008 and December 2012.

About 679 reports of fire, overheating, or burning of the adapters have been filed. Customers have been advised to stop using the adapters immediately, confirm if theirs is affected, and request a free replacement.
