Meta Platforms Inc formerly named Facebook, has launched their direct twitter competitor, Threads. Within its first 2 hours of launch, the social media application has crossed 2 million sign ups, as written by its founder Mark Zuckerberg.
At this time, users are only able to access the platform through the application on mobile devices and with the primary idea being to foster an open text based communication media, there’s also no direct message feature on the application yet.
Threads, also referred to as ‘Threads, an Instagram app’ has a product messaging on the IOS app store that calls it Instagram’s text based conversation app. It has a direct integration with Instagram, making it easy for existing Instagram customers to sign up using the same username, and also follow their current Instagram followers.
