TotalEnergies SE is a French multinational integrated energy and petroleum company founded in 1924 and headquartered in Courbevoie, France. It is one of the seven supermajor oil companies that specialize in oil and gas, crude oil, and natural gas exploration, production, power generation, transportation, refining, etc.
According to reports, TotalEnergies has announced plans to sell its onshore oil assets in Nigeria to Chappal Energies for $860 million USD. This deal is expected to close in December 2024 pending regulatory approvals as total plans to secure an environmentally friendly offshore environment.
The report further mentions that Chappal Energies, the Mauritius-based energy company, will acquire TotalEnergies 10% stake in the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), as well as 15 oil mining leases and ownership of the Forcados and Bonny export terminals.
