South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea, is a country in the southern part of the Korean peninsula, in the northeast region of Asia. It has a population of over 51 million residents as of 2023.
According to reports, the government of South Korea has announced plans to invest $6.94 billion USD into Artificial Intelligence and another $1 billion USD in AI Semiconductor firms by 2027. This investment plan is part of the country’s effort to retain a leading global position in the competitive semiconductor market.
The report further mentions that South Korea plans to expand its research and development in AI chips, such as artificial neural processing units (NPUs) and next-generation artificial general intelligence (AGI), as it aims to become one of the top three countries in AI technology and chips by 2030.
