The Republic of Colombia is a tropical equatorial country located in South America, with over 52 million residents as of 2023. Colombia is bordered by the Caribbean Sea, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, the Pacific Ocean, and Panama. According to recent reports, about 800 kg of cocaine valued at $27 million USD was confiscated onboard a semi-submersible in Colombian waters, on Sunday 21st January 2024.
The Colombian Navy intercepted the submersible, now referred to as a Narco-sub, in the Pacific Ocean with packages of cocaine hydrochloride stamped with a scorpion logo, which it believed was headed for the USA or Europe. Colombia is said to be the world’s largest producer of cocaine.
