Ireland’s Ban on E-Cigarettes

Ireland is an island located in the North Atlantic Ocean in Northwest Europe. It is the second largest island on the Northwestern coast of continental Europe. In October 2023, Incognito Blog reported the seizure of cocaine worth about $165 million USD in the country.

According to recent reports, Ireland has signed a new bill than prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes (vapes) to individuals under 18, with penalties attracting a fine of up to €4,000 (Euros) and a six-month prison sentence.

This ban is said to come into effect in a few days and in addition to the sales ban, Ireland’s Minister for Health and Minister of State for Public Health, Wellbeing, and the National Drug Strategy, launched a public consultation which is set to stop the self-service sale of tobacco and vapes at retailers, introduce a strict licensing system for the retail sale of such products, and restrict advertising such products around schools and public areas.

Earlier this year, the Irish government introduced The Public Health (Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill 2023 in an attempt to prevent children from using the products.
