LinkedIn, the social networking platform designed for professionals and businesses, has been fined $335 million USD by the Irish Data Protection Commission for violating Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation.
According to reports, the social network failed to obtain consent from users to process their data for its targeted advertising practices, which is a clear violation of the fundamental right to data protection.
The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) is the national independent authority responsible for enforcing data protection laws in Ireland.
