UK: $2.5 Billion Nissan EV Investment

Nissan Motor Corporation, commonly referred to as Nissan, is a multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 1933, the company supposedly boasts of being the sixth largest automaker in the world as of 2017.

Nissan has announced plans to build multiple electric vehicles (EV) at the company’s production factory located in Sunderland, England. This facility will be the production site for the Japanese company’s Qashqai, Juke, and Leaf EV models, and is expected to cost approximately 2 billion pounds ($2.5 billion USD).

The report further mentions that a Gigafactory will be constructed to aid the ambitious project, with the new plant primarily focused on electric vehicle batteries. Nissan will reportedly spend about 1.2 billion pounds in acquiring both physical and human resources.
