AMD: $400 Million Investment in India

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) is an American multinational semiconductor company with a history dating back to 1969 when it was founded by Jerry Sanders. The company’s early days saw them primarily manufacturing memory chips and other essential components for computers, including semiconductors.

Their core offerings include microprocessors that drive the computing power of servers, workstations, personal computers, and embedded system applications etc.

According to recent reports, AMD has announced plans to invest approximately $400 million USD in a new design center that will be located in the Bengaluru city of India. The semiconductor company unveiled this plan at the SemiconIndia 2023 conference held in Gujarat, where AMD’s Chief Technology Officer, Mark Papermaster, said the hub will be its largest design center in Bengaluru.

The new facility is proposed to be operational by the end of 2023, bringing the number of AMD offices in the country to 10.
