Hyundai has issued a recall of 66,996 vehicles due to two significant issues.
According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), about 54,647 vehicles are being recalled over a loss of drive power from a fuel pump failure that could increase the risk of a crash.
Additionally, about 12,349 Santa Fe vehicles have been recalled due to a software error in the transmission control unit that could potentially increase the risk of a crash.
The affected vehicles include 2019-2023 Veloster N hatchback, G70 sedans, Elantra N sedans, and Kona N SUVs. Hyundai dealers will update the engine control module software, inspect, and replace the fuel pump free of charge. Notification letters are scheduled to be sent in September.
