2024: Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two main Islamic holidays. It commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to a command from God.

The occasion is marked by Muslims all over the world through a symbolic act of animal sacrifice, such as a goat, sheep, or cow. The meat is shared among family, friends, and the less privileged.

Eid al-Adha holds great significance in the Islamic faith, as mosques hold special prayers and exchange gifts and thanksgiving as a reminder of devotion, obedience, and the value of generosity.

In Nigeria, today, June 17 and June 18, have been declared public holidays to mark this occasion.

Incognito blog wishes our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Eid al-Adha celebration.
