IBM, International Business Machines, the world’s largest industrial research organization, has announced plans to invest $730 million USD to expand its semiconductor packaging and testing plant in Bromont, Quebec, Canada.
This investment deal is expected to be made over a period of five years and will focus on advanced semiconductor components as it aims to create 280 new skilled jobs.
The report further mentions that IBM will establish a new research and development lab that will specialize in specific high-tech fields such as aerospace and healthcare rather than mass-producing generic components, as Canada aims to be among the top producers of semiconductors.
