Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist and political philosopher born on January 15 1929, in Georgia, USA. He was known for his civil rights movements and protests, leading various labor rights, right to vote, and desegregation marches across the United States.
Martin Luther King Jr. was known as a pioneer of the fight against racial injustice, including the famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech that was delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. In 1964, he won a Nobel Peace Price for fighting racial inequality through nonviolent approaches.
On April 4 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on the balcony of his motel, where he was visiting for a rally in Memphis, Tennessee. In the United States of America, a federal holiday is observed every January 15, to honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
