Google will supposedly pay $70 million USD to several states in the United States of America that participated in the lawsuit, with eligible customers set to receive $2 USD or more, up to the total amount of $630 million USD. Over 100 million US customers were affected and the payout will be dependent on the amount each person spent on Google Play Store between August 2016 and September 2023.
The report further mentions that Google’s legacy app store has stifled the competition through its expensive store fees and terms. It states that the company’s control over android mobile app distribution is an illegal monopoly, with other changes in app store practices due to be implemented alongside the settlement fee.
