Honda has issued a recall of approximately 2 million vehicles in North America due to a steering gearbox assembly issue that can make driving more difficult and increase the risk of a crash.
There have been reports of 13 crashes and 11 instances where drivers lost control due to steering issues. Affected vehicles include 2022-2025 Civic and Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, and Acura Integra and Integra Type S models, with about 1.7 million units in the U.S., 240,000 in Canada, and 58,000 in Mexico.
Dealers will replace the worn gear spring with an improved part and add grease if needed, with notification letters scheduled to be sent to owners by mid-November.
