General Motors has announced plans to lay off 1,695 employees at its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas, as part of a cost-cutting initiative that will be carried out in two phases.
According to reports, the first round of layoffs will begin in November 18, and will temporarily lay off 686 full-time employees and terminate 250 temporary workers. The second round will be scheduled for January 12 next year and will have an additional 759 full-time employees laid off temporarily.
The report further mentions that the company will pause production of its Cadillac XT4 model in its Kansas plant until late 2025, resulting in the layoffs until production begins. In August, Incognito blog reported about the company’s plan to layoff 1,000 employees in the software and service division.
