The Home Depot, Inc. is an American multinational home improvement retail corporation founded in 1978 and headquartered in unincorporated Cobb County, Georgia. It sells tools, construction products, appliances, and other services. Home Depot is the largest home improvement retailer in the United States.
According to reports, Home Depot has agreed to pay nearly $2 million USD to settle a civil law enforcement complaint of false advertising and unfair competition by the company.
The report further mentions that more money was charged at checkout compared to the initial price of the item written on the shelf tag; such violations are called “scanner violations.” As a result, Home Depot will pay $1.7 million USD in civil penalties and $277,251 USD to cover investigation costs as well as to support future enforcement of consumer protection laws, totaling $1,977,251 USD.
