Life & Immigration: 19

I drove to Montreal, Quebec for a long weekend in the month of August and it was quite the adventure. The drive was for 7 hours with 2 stops, and I quickly realized that the locals here drive a little bit like back home in Lagos, Nigeria. We also had pedestrians crossing the street when the light was red, and motorists cutting in incorrectly.

Between 1534 and 1763, the current day Quebec was the French Colony of Canada, which explains why we have a French speaking population within North America. We found ourselves in the museum of illusion, China Town, and Dandy (an excellent spot for the best pancakes and sandwich) etc. One thing that definitely stood out for me was the architecture in the City, it maintained a rustic, ancient character that pictures can’t completely capture.

This holiday to the French City was with friends and family, making the memories and conversations even worth more than the vicinity. Will I visit Quebec again? I probably will and this time maybe I’ll try to take a few French lessons to help me communicate with the residents. This issue of Life & Immigration is late by a few days and this is all because I tried not to write while on my vacation, so, expect another at the end of this month.

Happy September!
