General Motors has announced plans to shut down its manufacturing factory in Ecuador due to increased competition from local firms. The factory will halt production on Friday, September 6, 2024.
The report further mentions that the closure will affect 320 workers who may face layoffs. General Motors also plans to maintain its dealership and sell vehicles in the country. This restructuring is part of General Motors’ goal to increase production of electric vehicles and stop selling gas-powered cars by 2035.
