The Supreme Court in Brazil has announced plans to ban X, formerly known as Twitter, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk due to its refusal to comply with the country’s internet laws and regulations.
According to reports, the court had requested that X remove certain profiles deemed harmful for spreading false information and hate speech, as well as appoint a legal representative in the country, but Musk refused to comply, which led to the ban. The platform has also been fined over $3 million USD for its noncompliance.
The report further mentions that the telecommunications agency in Brazil has given Apple and Google five days to remove X from their mobile app stores or face a daily fine of $9,000 USD for noncompliance.
