Japan: Typhoon Shanshan Makes Landfall

Japan is an island country in East Asia, with a population of over 123 million residents as of 2024. It is located in the Pacific Ocean off the northeast coast of the Asian mainland and is bordered by the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk, and the East China Sea.

According to reports, Typhoon Shanshan made landfall in southwest Japan and has led to the destruction of homes and infrastructure, as well as power cuts, with three recorded fatalities and 45 injuries.

The report further mentions that about 5.3 million people have been issued evacuation notices across the country, with more than 200,000 homes without power as a result of the storm. The storm has also resulted in a halt of operations in Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and the cancellation of thousands of flights.
