According to reports, the founder and CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in relation to a search warrant targeting alleged violations of content moderation and unwillingness to cooperate with law enforcement.
The report further mentions that the arrest is part of an investigation into crimes related to child pornography, drug trafficking, and fraudulent transactions on the platform due to Telegram’s lack of content moderation. Durov could be held till Wednesday, then the court will decide whether he will be formally indicted for some or all of the alleged charges.
