Tesla has issued a recall of 9,136 vehicles over a trim on the roof that could separate, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), if the trim’s adhesion to the surface lacks primer, the part could separate from the vehicle over time, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Affected vehicles include Model X sports utility vehicles manufactured between 2015 and 2016. Tesla will test the adhesion of the roof trim and reattach it if necessary, free of charge.
