BMW has issued a recall of 720,796 vehicles in the United States over concerns of a short circuit. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit, which can potentially cause a fire.
Affected vehicles include X1, X5, and 5-Series sedan models. BMW dealers will inspect and replace the water pump, plug connector, and install a protective shield free of charge.
