T-Mobile, an American wireless network operator that provides wireless voice and data services, has been fined the sum of $60 million USD for failing to prevent and report unauthorized access to sensitive data.
According to reports, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. imposed the fine on T-Mobile because it violated a national security agreement by failing to disclose and take action against data leaks after its acquisition of Sprint Corp in 2020.
The report further mentions that T-Mobile confirmed it experienced technical issues while integrating with Sprint that impacted information shared from law enforcement information requests. This marks largest fine ever imposed by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S.
