Greece: Wildfire Leads To Evacuations

Greece is a country in southeastern Europe, with a population of over 10 million residents as of 2023. It is bordered by Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and the Aegean Sea.

According to reports, a wildfire burning near Greece’s capital city of Athens, which started on Sunday, August 11, 2024, has triggered the evacuation of thousands across the region.

The report further mentions that several homes and cars have been damaged as a result of the fire, with over 600 firefighters deployed to extinguish it, and over 500,000 people in the eastern Attica region under evacuation orders.
