Tesla has issued a recall of 1,850,363 vehicles in the United States due to an unlatched hood issue. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a software issue failed to detect when the hood is unlatched. An unlatched hood could fully open and obstruct the driver’s view, increasing the risk of a crash.
The affected vehicles include 2021-2024 Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-2024 Model Y vehicles.
Tesla will release an over-the-air software update to fix the issue, and notification letters have been scheduled to be sent in September 2024.
