Peru: Bus Accident Kills 20

Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a country in western South America with a population of over 34 million residents as of 2023. It is bordered by Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, and the Pacific Ocean. It is the third largest country in South America and is known for its arid terrain, coastal regions, and mountains.

According to reports, a bus accident in the Peruvian Andes mountains has resulted in at least 20 fatalities. The accident occurred on the Los Libertadores highway in the Ayacucho region, in the south-central Andes where the bus fell off a cliff, as bus accidents are common on the precarious mountain roads of Peru. Search and rescue operations are underway, with the cause of the accident still unknown.
