BlackRock: 3.23 Billion Preqin Acquisition Deal

BlackRock Inc., the multinational investment company, has announced plans to acquire Preqin, a private markets data firm in the United Kingdom, for $3.2 billion USD in cash.

This acquisition deal will make private markets investing easier and more accessible while building a better-connected platform for investors and fund managers. It is expected to close by the end of 2024.

The report further mentions that Preqin will still be available as its own separate solution, as well as integrate its data, research, and investment process into BlackRock’s Aladdin portfolio management software.

Preqin Ltd. is a privately held investment data company founded in 2003 and headquartered in London. It specializes in financial data and insight on the alternative assets market, as well as tools to support investment in alternatives.

In January, BlackRock acquired Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for $12.5 billion USD.
