Democracy Day is a national public holiday in Nigeria to commemorate the restoration of democracy in 1999, when power was transferred from the military to an elected civilian government.
Democracy Day was observed on May 29 until 2018 when the government adjusted the date to June 12 to commemorate the democratic election of Moshood Abiola in 1993, which was nullified by the then military government.
May this Democracy Day continue to bring hope, peace, and freedom to Nigeria and the world at large. Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.
