Kia Recalls 463,000 Vehicles

Kia has issued a recall of about 463,000 vehicles in the United States due to a fire risk. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can result in a fire while parked or driving.

There have been multiple reports of smoke coming from under the driver’s seat and 1 report of the driver’s seat being on fire. Kia says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Affected vehicles include: 2020-2024 Kia Telluride models. Owners have been advised to park outside and away from buildings, with notification letters scheduled to be sent in July 2024. Dealers will install reinforcements and improved switches to prevent the seats from burning, free of charge.

In April, Incognito blog reported a recall of 427,407 Kia Telluride vehicles due to a transmission problem that could allow them to roll away while in park.
