Sri Lanka: Flood Kills 7

Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean. It shares maritime borders with India and the Maldives and has a population of 22 million residents as of 2022.

According to reports, intense rainfall caused by the monsoon has resulted in floods and landslides across parts of Sri Lanka over the weekend, which led to significant damage to homes and infrastructure and at least 7 recorded fatalities.

The report further mentions that schools have been closed and electricity has been cut off in several areas. Landslide warnings have also been issued in 9 districts. Emergency response teams and the country’s navy have been deployed to assist those affected by the floods and provide relief materials.
