Tesla has issued a recall of 125,227 vehicles due to a faulty seatbelt warning system.
According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles do not meet the federal safety requirements because the seat belt warning light and audible chime may not activate when the driver is not wearing a seatbelt. This could increase the risk of injury in a collision.
The affected vehicles include: 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. Tesla has announced that it will release an over-the-air software update to address this issue, starting in June 2024.
