According to reports, Agnikul launched its first sub-orbital test spacecraft named Agnibaan SOrTeD (Sub-Orbital Technology Demonstrator), powered by 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines on May 30, 2024, from its launchpad located at Satish Dhawan Space Center on Sriharikota island.

The purpose of the launch is to gather data that will help the development of the Agnibaan launch vehicle, which is expected to be highly customizable and capable of carrying a 300kg payload to a 700km orbit.

The report further mentions that the launch was scheduled in March and also in April but was delayed due to major technical issues. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) congratulated Agnikul on the successful launch, terming it a major milestone.
