The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, also referred to as Bangladesh, is a country located in South Asia with a population of around 169 million residents as of 2022. It is bordered by India, Myanmar, Nepal, and China.
According to reports, Cyclone Remal made landfall in the coastal regions of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, on May 26, 2024. The storm made landfall with winds up to 135 km/h, causing significant damage to infrastructure, homes, and power lines, with millions left without electricity due to the storm.
Over 1 million people have been evacuated to secure areas in India and Bangladesh. About 12 fatalities have been recorded in both countries, as emergency response teams are working to ensure safety and provide relief materials to those affected.
