Honda To Layoff 1,700

Honda has announced voluntary layoffs of 1,700 employees, which amounts to 14% of its production workforce in China.

The layoffs are a result of a decline in car sales as Chinese consumers are shifting away from internal combustion engine cars to electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

In February, Incognito blog reported a recall of 750,114 Honda vehicles in the United States due to faulty airbag sensors.
