Tanzania: Flood Kills 155

The United Republic of Tanzania is a country in East Africa. It has a population of 62 million residents as of 2022. It is bordered by Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Malawi.

According to reports, intense rainfall has led to severe flooding in Tanzania, causing damage to homes and infrastructure on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Over 10,000 homes have been destroyed by the floods, with about 155 people killed and at least 236 people injured.

The floods are a result of the El NiƱo phenomenon ravaging East Africa. The report further mentions that over 200,000 people have been affected, with emergency rescue operations underway to help those affected by the floods.
