Group 42 Holding Ltd, also known as G42, is an Emirati artificial intelligence (AI) development holding company headquartered in Abu Dhabi. It was founded in 2018 and specializes in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, healthcare, cybersecurity, oil and gas, aviation, and smart city initiatives.
According to reports, Microsoft announced that it will invest $1.5 billion USD in G42, as both countries fight to stay ahead in the race for tech dominance. This investment deal will give Microsoft a minority stake in the company and allow G42 to run its AI services and applications on Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, Azure, and work together to support the safety and security of its infrastructure.
The report further mentions that both companies aim to build advanced AI and digital infrastructure across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.
