Amazon has been fined $7.8 million USD by the Competition authorities in Poland for misleading customers about product availability and delivery dates. UOKiK stands for the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland. It’s the government agency that’s responsible for enforcing competition law and consumer protection law in Poland and takes action against anti-competitive practices.
The report states that the competition authorities found that Amazon may have misled consumers about the conclusion of sales contracts, as well as used deceptive design elements to create a false sense of urgency during purchasing process. On this basis, the company is guilty of infringement of collective consumer interests.
