Stellantis Recalls 284,982 Vehicles

Stellantis has issued a recall of 284,982 vehicles in the United States due to faulty side curtain airbag inflators. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), moisture may get into the inflators due to a manufacturing defect and cause corrosion and possibly crack the inflators.

There hasn’t been any report of death or injury related to this defect. Affected vehicles include: 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models. Owners will have dealers replace both side inflators free of charge, with notification letters scheduled to be sent in May 2024. The report further mentions that the inflators are made by Joyson Safety Systems, a company that acquired Takata after it filed for bankruptcy.

In February 2024, Incognito Blog reported similar recalls that were related to the Takata airbag defect.
