Nestlé USA Recalls 440,500 Metallic Mugs

Nestlé S.A. is one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world by revenue. It is headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland and was established in 1905 after a merger of the Anglo-Swiss Milk Company. It has operations in over 190 countries with about 2,000 brands in its portfolio, including well-known names like Nescafé, Kit Kat etc.

Nestlé USA has issued a recall of about 440,500 Starbucks-branded metallic mugs gift set sold between November 2023 and January 2024 due to burn hazards. According to the notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, if microwaved or filled with extremely hot liquid, the mugs can overheat or break, posing burn and laceration hazards.

There have been reports of 12 incidents of the mugs overheating or breaking resulting in 10 injuries. Affected customers have been advised to stop using the recalled mugs immediately and return them to the place of purchase or contact Nestlé USA for a full refund.
