BestBuy has issued a recall of 287,300 Insignia air fryers sold in the United States and Canada due to fire hazards. According to the notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the handles of the air fryer can overheat and melt or break, which can pose fire and burn risks.
The recall affects 187,400 units in the US and 99,900 in Canada with model number NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, NS-AF10DSS2 all sold from November 2021 to November 2023. BestBuy has received no reports of injuries with 24 reports of the glass shattering due to overheating and 6 reports of air fryers catching on fire.
Affected customers have been advised to stop using the air fryers and contact BestBuy for a refund check or Best Buy store credit. In October 2023, Incognito Blog reported the recall of 930,000 Insignia pressure cookers due to defective inner pots.
