Hyundai and Kia issued a recall of about 169,932 electric vehicles (EVs) after the transport ministry in South Korea discovered issues with the charging system’s software. The defect affects up to 5 of the company’s electric vehicle models but the report only lists the Ioniq and Genesis brands.
The report further mentions that 113,916 Hyundai EVs and 56,016 Kia EVs were affected, with the problem with the software posing a risk of leaving vehicle owners stranded if the battery refuses to charge. This recall is supposedly scheduled to begin on March 18 2024.
