Indonesia: Landslides Kill 26

The Republic of Indonesia, commonly referred to as Indonesia, is a country located in the Southeast Asia region, between the Pacific and Indian oceans. West Sumatra is a province of Indonesia. It is on the west coast of the island of Sumatra and boasts of a population of over 5.6 million residents as of 2022.

According to reports, floods and landslides in West Sumatra province on 11th March 2024 have led to at least 26 fatalities, with about 6 people missing. This is a result of heavy rainfall since Thursday, which has caused severe damage to 280 acres of farmlands, roads, and hundreds of homes. The report further mentions that about 39,000 people have been affected by the floods and landslides, with search and rescue operations underway to find those missing.
