Hyundai has issued a recall of 36,408 vehicles in Canada due to a fault with the trunk release latch. Transport Canada released the report recently, stating that affected units could have a problem opening the trunk if the emergency release latch fails.
The recall further mentions that the models affected are Hyundai Elantra manufactured between 2015 and 2016. The safety risk involved with this defect is that if a person is closed inside the trunk, they might not be able to open it. Owners will be notified by mail and have been advised to contact their dealership for a latch replacement.
