According to CNN, apartments on The World can only be purchased on an invite-only arrangement. That is, multiple residents have to send potential residents a purchase invite. The report further mentions that a net worth benchmark of $10 million USD is required for residents.
The ship plans its travels about 2 years in advance, and visits spotlight events like Wimbledon in London etc. Residents also have the freedom of exploring various locations alone, and rejoining the trip at their convenience.
