Expedia to Layoff 1,500

Expedia Inc. is an online travel agency, launched in 1996 by Microsoft, with its headquarters in Seattle, USA. It is a subsidiary of Expedia Group. Its website and mobile app are used to book airline tickets, hotel reservations, and car rentals, among other services.

According to reports, Expedia has announced plans to lay off 1,500 employees, which amounts to 9% of its workforce, in a restructuring initiative aimed at improving its organizational and technological transformation. The restructuring plan will cost the company between $80- $100 million USD.
