Volkswagen has issued a recall of 261,257 vehicles in the United States due to issues with the fuel tank suction pumps. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a problem with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank may cause fuel to flow into the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system and possibly leak out of the car.
The vehicles affected include Volkswagen Golf A7, Golf GTI, Golf Sportwagen, Jetta, and Audi A3s front-wheel drive models from 2015-2020. The report further mentions that affected owners should take their vehicles to a dealership to replace the suction pump free of charge, with notification letters scheduled to be sent in April 2024.
