The Republic of Indonesia, commonly referred to as Indonesia, is a country located in the Southeast Asia region, between the Pacific and Indian oceans. West Java is a province of Indonesia located in the western part of the island of Java. With a population of about 50 million residents as of 2023, the province is bordered by Banten, Jakarta, Java Sea, Central Java, and the Indian Ocean.
According to recent reports, a tornado made landfall through the town of Sumedang in West Java province on Wednesday, 22nd February 2024, causing severe damage to homes and infrastructure. The report further mentions that at least 33 people have been injured as a result of the violent winds.
